The Skies Anew
I grew up traveling. My step-father was a Foreign Service Officer for the US. I flew all over Latin America. It was a joy and an adventure and a pleasure. Emphasis on the pleasure. Customers were generally treated with respect. Extra care was taken by all the flight crew, including the gate crew, to make sure all fliers were happy and their needs were met. As most fliers today are well aware, there is generally none of that available. Air travel today is generally a series of hassles and obstacles. Well, there are always exceptions to everything. First Southwest tried to make their service more humane, though they kept the cattle car scenario. Jet Blue stepped up and gave their clients actually nice service and attractions (TV) to make the travel more bearable. Then Virgin America comes along and actually restores the world of air travel to a level of pleasure. From the friendliness and cooperation of the ground crew, to the soothing ambiance of their flight cabins, to the cheerfulness of the flight crew, to the added attractions (TV, games, messaging, food options, wi-fi etc) and a general feeling that the traveler is an important part of their business life. I only wish I was rich enough to travel more frequently.
